Automotive Body Leak Tester
The Automotive Body Leak Tester is a portable self-contained unit designed to perform static body air leakage tests on vehicles in assembly plants. Automotive manufacturers can test their vehicle designs in plant, in accordance with recognized industry standards.
The Body Leak Tester can determine the rate of air leakage into and out of the cabin under both pressure and vacuum conditions. Custom adapters allow the Body Leak Tester to also test body components such as doors and windows.
A variable-speed motor attached to a blower produces airflow, which is directed into the vehicle body via a flexible hose and window adapter. The rate of flow is measured using a mass air flow sensor and displayed in Standard Cubic Feet per Minute (SCFM). A differential pressure gauge measures the difference in pressure between the vehicle cabin and the ambient environment.
All Body Leak Tester units are calibrated against a NIST-traceable primary standard air flow calibrator. The calibration data is programmed into the flow computer to provide high accuracy reading during all body leakage measurements. A calibration check ring is provided to periodically check the accuracy of the tester to ensure precise measurements.
